The Alimiyyah Programme

The Alimiyyah Programme is a structured and comprehensive course of study in the core Islamic sciences, rooted in the classical Dars al-Nizāmi curriculum. It covers disciplines such as Qur’anic exegesis (Tafsīr), Prophetic traditions (Ḥadīth), Islamic law (Fiqh), jurisprudential principles (Uṣūl al-Fiqh), Arabic grammar and morphology (Naḥw & Ṣarf), theology (‘Aqīdah), and more.

The programme is designed to cultivate a deep, holistic understanding of Islam: intellectually, spiritually, and practically. Whether your goal is to deepen your personal understanding of Islam, build a strong foundation in the Islamic sciences, or pursue advanced scholarship, the programme offers a structured path for you.

Why Nusratul Islam?

At Nusratul Islam Masjid & Islamic Centre, our Alimiyyah Programme is a part-time, evening course designed for working professionals, students in education, and busy adults who are serious about learning the Islamic sciences but need a structure that fits around their lives.

The programme is delivered in three progressive yet independent stages, starting with Arabic, followed by Islamic Studies, and then Advanced Scholarship. Whether you want to learn Arabic, deepen your understanding of the Deen, or progress towards advanced Islamic scholarship, each stage is a stand-alone course with its own value and outcomes. You choose how far you want to go, one stage at a time, without having to commit to the entire journey from the outset.

Our goal is to make traditional Islamic scholarship accessible and achievable for those who are dedicated to learning but require a flexible and supportive framework.

Accessible, authentic, and rooted in tradition.

Graduates who complete the full course, including all three core components, will be awarded a Licence in Islamic Scholarship (Shahādah al-Alimiyyah), and will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to serve as scholars, teachers, and community leaders.

Sister, Year 1

“I joined the course to feel a little closer to Allah by trying to understand Arabic. I have been blown away by how this course has challenged and expanded my mind. Learning new concepts and applying them has been quite enjoyable.
Recognising words in duas and in the Quran is an amazing feeling and brings a kind of joy and connection that I did not get just reading the English translation. I am honoured to be taught by experienced teachers that sacrifice their evenings and feel grateful to be able to study with likeminded sisters in an environment that nurtures the love of Allah and His beloved prophet SAW.”

Brother, Year 1

“I joined Alimiyyah initially with a lot of doubt. I always had a zeal to gain sacred knowledge, however didn’t know whether I’ll be able to cope with the workload being a family man with young children.
Alhamdulillah through Allah’s mercy I am half a year through the Alimiyyah and can say it has been a great experience.
The course is professionally conducted by the Ustaad’s and each subject compliments the other. There are constant knowledge checks and there is always extra help available if needed…”

Sister, Year 1

“The flexibility & part-time structure of the Alimiyyah programme enables me to fit the learning around my working life and allows time for essential independent study. The high quality, interactive teaching methods ensure that learners of all abilities are catered for.
Within a year, we have covered basic rules of Arabic Grammar and Morphology allowing us to progress in our journey of translating and understanding Arabic texts. Alongside this, we have also built on our speaking skills to enhance our learning further by putting our knowledge into practice.”

Sister, Year 3

“The part-time structure made it easy to balance my studies alongside my GCSE’s and A-levels, and the teachers are incredibly supportive, both academically and spiritually. I’ve gained a solid foundation in Arabic, which has given me the ability to understand the Qur’an, hadith, and fiqh. Alhamdulillah. The welcoming environment and strong sense of community make this programme truly special.”

Brother, Year 3

“Prior to joining the Alimiyyah programme I was attending duroos and bayaans locally (and online) and took lot a of benefit masha Allah.
However after joining the structured Alimiyyah programme I can see how the traditional sciences need much more focus and time to try and benefit fully from it. I am thoroughly enjoying learning the foundations to access this sacred knowledge and whilst it is intense and needs lot of hard work my fellow classmates & respected teachers are helping me in this journey.”

You don’t need to have everything figured out. You just need the commitment to begin.
